Applications for the 2022 inaugural program are now open and close on the 30th June

The Australian Society of Exploration Geophysics (ASEG) and AuScope are hosting a one-week Camp for Applied Geophysics Excellence (CAGE) in South Australia. This field camp will involve seven days of real-world application of major geophysical techniques.

The camp will begin with an introduction to challenges facing the Australian exploration industry and geoscience education. The necessary field training, theory and methodologies of typical geophysical techniques will be provided by industry-recognized experts. Potential Fields, Electrical, and Seismic methods and their applications for mineral exploration, natural resource management and geotechnical applications will be explained. The deployment of geophysical equipment, work health and safety considerations and field camp planning will also be covered.

The participants will then learn how to process geophysical data and utilise various commercial and open source software packages. They will complete practical sessions on basic data importation and reduction, filtering, modelling, inversion, data display and importantly, interpretation. Participants will learn how to integrate diverse geophysical datasets in order to map/image the sub-surface in the vicinity of a copper deposit environment in South Australia.

Course Fees

There is no attendance fee to successful applicants due to sponsorship by the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, NExUS and AuScope. Costs covered include flights to Adelaide, dorm-style accommodation 1-hour from Adelaide (or camping if preferred- own camping gear must be supplied), and most meals.

Dates

Camp dates are Friday 23rd of September, returning on Friday 30th of September 2022.
